No. They go, "I've got an idea!" then tell it. If someone say about such-and-such, they go, "Oh no. They're all too thick to think of things like that. It'll be fun. They'll never notice. And while you're at it, make as many mistakes as you can." LOL!

Yeah but it usually applies to the Corrie lot. Though with all this writer-swapping I'm not surprised it's crept into Em. LOL!

David Lane and Jan McVerry. Directors too. Corrie currently has that Riitta something-or-other while Em has Tracey Rooney.

Here in Canada we have Zoe in the middle of a breakdown, and Chris has just learned she has signed herself out of the hospital. Diane is off on a cruise to be with Bernice, and today it sounded like Tricia could be going with her. Louise is off to Australia with Ray who surprised her with the tickets. Who will be running the Woolpack with no staff other than Marlon, who of course does not serve at the bar?. We have just had the website of Bettyland and Seth is now well and truly caught. I realise this is old news to UK viewers, but maybe some fellow Canucks would like to join in discussion

I remember that with the webcam. Poor Seth. But Betty did get a good revenge on him. It's still sad about Stan Richards dying and I hope they give Seth a good send off. He hasn't died here yet. I'm sure when they do have it, they will do him justice. 2002 you're on? You'll be getting Christmas in a few months. Do they show the hour eps as an hour or in two parts? Christmas was an hour here and brilliant.

Putting my 2 cents worth in here now: I'm glad we never get the spoilers in our papers here - it seems to be a British thing. Always look forward to the Corrie Christmas shows but Emmerdale seems to be a big yawn here - when preempted they never give us make up shows and never an hour of Emmerdale which still runs in the afternoon in Corrie's old time slot. Christina is the only one I know of besides myself who watches it and I only got into it because I was too lazy to get up off the couch after Corrie. I do appreciate the distinctive characters tho. Nice to see Madge is still around.

I'll be interested in your thoughts on that Christmas ep, geenee. I enjoyed it more than the Corrie one we got afterwards with Richard supposedly murdering Emily (that was what we were led to believe and they added an extra 5 mins on it too). Last year the Christmas one for Emmerdale was just normal episode length. I wonder what they'll do this year? I wish we had no spoilers. There was always something in the paper (my mum started watching Corrie after reading about Val Barlow's death) but never like it is now. No soap mags all full of the same things. It's ridiculous. I only buy them if there's a specific something someone's told me about.

Here we didn't know anything about who was supposed to be murdered and it was really exciting. Didn't Viv's husband get killed by Andy's dad on Christmas? Everyone seemed to be eating at the Woolpack which I thought was odd. I think we are seeing summer in Emmerdale at the moment as they are having garden competion and the Queen's Jubilee (forget when that was). It may be another 5 or 6 months before we get to see it. I do enjoy Marlon and Trisha, Paddy and Emily and Diane. Don't you think it's strange to do a pregnancy test just before going on stage? The writers must all be male. Is it just me or isn't that something you'd do in your own bathroom?

Patsy, as Geenee says, Emmerdale seems to be the poor relation. CBC used to treat Corrie very badly but they obviously got lots of complaints and suddenly realised they had a sizable audience watching the show. From the amount of commercials we get stuck with on it they must be having a financial bonanza. Emmerdale is apparently not as popular here, as you can tell from Canadians on this site,(thank goodness for Geenee) so they dont get the same outcry when they mess around with its scheduling. They never tell us it wont be on ahead of time as they do with Corrie, and never make it up. We still have it for 4 days a week so we are never going to catch up, but I dont mind as long as they dont take it off permanently. I love a lot of the characters and storylines.

It's the poor relation here too, Christina, but they're trying to make it Britain's number 2 soap. They aren't managing it really. Though unlike Corrie and EastEnders, it is maintaining a reasonably level audience. Corrie and EE go up and down and are always tryng to outdo each other. 4 days a week? Crikey. No you'll never catch up unless we cut it back from 6. 6 is just far too much. Though I do now prefer it to Corrie because it's got more humour and is lighter. Not as much misery or storylines going on and on and on and the older characters are used better, mixing with all ages. I didn't like Edna when she first appeared but she's one of my favourites now.
geenee, yes that's right. Vic Windsor was shot by Andy's dad. I wasn't watching it then. I saw the odd thing like Rachel being pushed off the cliff by Graham Clarke and when he tried to go over one with Kathy. Oh yes. I forgot the Jubilee was June. There are plenty of female writers but most are male. Sally Webster's husband writes for Emmerdale (Tim Dyvenor or however it's spelt). They managed not to have any leaks for the hour special that October to celebrate the show's 30th anniversary. In fact, a lot of reviews the next day were all wrong and they were delighted. LOL! I love Diane too. She's great. Marlon and Tricia make a lovely couple. They work well together. Viv and Bob I like too. I like most of them, even Eric Pollard. LOL! I liked Cynthia Daggart and Peg Dingle but a lot didn't. We have another Dingle and I don't like her much at the moment. Maybe when they give her something to do I will. Shadrach is one of my favourite Dingles. He's so disgusting he's comical.
