Mac and the policewoman (brain cramp again) seem to have a little spark and Mark is worried about his fingerprints all over the car so the plot thickens. Zoe going back to work doesn't seem like a good idea. Marlon was funny thinking the lady vet was after him. Patsy: the CBC shows The Antiques Road Show ad infinitum between old documentaries and the BBC News. They also rerun all the comedy shows that were quite topical at the time but since they were based on that week's news they are really out of date now. I read in the Star that a lot of people have resumes out as they can't wait out this lockout with no benefits, etc. Maybe that's what management wants - they can then hire even more contract people. Angela - that's her name.

Oh of course. Angie Reynolds. I'd forgotten all about her. I think I'm right in thinking the lady vet is actually married to Cain in real life. I could be wrong though.
It's ridiculous about those poor people. I read the other day the BBC were accused of siding with CBC. That wouldn't surprise me since they haven't been impartial in anything for decades. Haven't they got anything else to show apart from The Antiques Roadshow? Those eps must be getting on for valuing themselves. LOL!

Patsy, Antique Roadshows are modern to some of the stuff we get on some other channels, Bad Girls has been running for years, same episodes over and over. We had The Bill for a few weeks then straight back to the beginning again. On PBS Saturday nights, we can enjoy Dads Army, To the Manor Born, As Time Goes by, ello, ello, Summer wine and Keeping up appearances. All excellent shows if you havent seen them time and again. Its annoying the way they end one series, and then seem to think you want to see the same show all over again immediately. They are doing that right now with Footballers Wives. I get particularly annoyed with BBC Canada sometimes (although they do give us some terrific stuff) but they are showing State of Play with David Morrissey again, and its the third time its been on, and we have only had BBC Canada for 2-3 years. I did enjoy that show the first time though. I know they cant all be diamonds (heavens when would we get anything done?) but I did email the BBC and suggest that we must have wonderful stuff in their archives which we have never seen but just got the standard reply . o.k. I got that out of system LOL

LOL! I know that feeling. TV companies also seem to think no one wants to see B&W TV shows. We have ITV3 here which is meant to be for the 35+ age bracket but are they showing real golden oldies? Nope. Same old stuff Granada Plus (which closed for it) had from the 80s, 90s and 00s but without classic Corrie and Emmerdale. And the BBC are terrible with their repeats. SAME handful of comedies over and over. I so wish for the past when TV was good and even the repeats were more imaginative.

A few years ago, the satellite dishes were huge round things and we got one as we were out in the country and no cable available. There was a channel then in the States called Nostalgia, which had some wonderful old shows (some clinkers too) but we saw some movies we had never had the chance to see (or have since). Like you Patsy, I wonder that they dont realise there really is a market for the old stuff. They seem to think everyone is young but its ridiculous, people are living longer nowadays, and while we are young at heart we'd like some of "our" shows too.Now look at that , you got me ranting again LOL.

LOL! Sorry, Christina. I do understand though. I may only be 35 but I LOVE so many shows that were on before I was even born. Thankfully a lot are coming out on DVD. I don't care about b&w. And there are a lot of people who feel the same. But it's colour, colour, colour even down to colourising the b&w eps of Bewitched to get them rerun. Absolutely stupid. We had a wonderful cable and satellite channel here called Bravo which showed mainly old US stuff. Then they started listening to the viewers and bought in a lot of ITC shows like The Adventures of Robin Hood etc from the 50s and 60s. Then Flextech took them over and stopped ALL b&w, including films. Then they wrecked the channel completely and turned it into a sort of porn Sci-fi channel. Uk Gold used to be great but no b&w and now it's more recent BBC programmes than the variety it offered back in 1992 when it started (and has had Dr Who on all these years!). Granada Plus was brilliant apart from editing. Then they started showing the same stuff over and over despite Granada's vast back catalogue. There are just no decent channels for people who want old stuff any more. We need a TV Land or Nick at Nite. I've been sent stuff from friends in America off there and they really love their classic TV. My rant over - for the moment. LOL! Patsy

LOL Patsy: what you are calling classic TV we used to call reruns! There were some very good shows but some real junk too and I suppose it's the same in Britain. CBC does run some old black and white movies in the aft. which could be taped but now we can't trust the TV Guide as it's not updated since the lockout. They had Casablanca on last week and Double Indemnity but how often can you watch them? If you think this is bad, what I can't stand is the month of Dec. Nothing new then - just the same old Xmas shows decade after decade. That's when I rent movies or the last season's Sopranos. They fooled me last year and only had it on DVD - which still won't eject - I have given up on it. I remember seeing Greta Garbo movies in Toronto in the 50s at a really great art deco theatre - they were old then but really neat to see them in that setting. IMO there are some really good actors and actresses now but there seem to be very few good writers and stories so you'd better get busy and send them some. At least you can write comedy as long as Reet is the star! As for Emmerdale, not much happened today.

Well Emmerdale is a bit quiet at the moment, but you can feel simmerings of things to come, and watch out!!! Now Scott has told Ray he has been working on the stolen cars and the money has gone to Tony, things should start flying. He hasnt been absolutely truthful, though intimating that Tony said Ray knew. Poor Zoe is in such a poor state, I hope she gets help soon. Tomorrow we get to see Sams girlfriend from the internet. I wonder how they are going to play it, a real come-on artist, or a really sweet shy girl not too bright.

Yes Christina, things should pick up with Scott going to Ray. I only hope Mark doesn't get dragged in to all the trouble. Will Ray believe Tony? If so, Scott's in deep doo doo. Is there a girl out there dumb enough for Sam? Louise is back but doesn't believe Terry of course; they never do. You would think Angie would smell a rat with both men in the house quitting a job they both liked.

Geenee, what did you think of Sam's date? A very nice girl by all appearances, and seemed to genuinely like Sam, but I think he has had enough this dating lark LOL.

Sam's date was not believable to me. I can understand the girl being polite and pleasant to him but giving him her number was a bit over the top IMO. It was nice to see Caine getting the brushoff and Sam not liking dating is probably best in the long run; I can't imagine a more boring guy to talk to. Do you find Ray and Tony a bit over the top also? They are bringing their crooked jobs into a garage with the son and father-in-law of a policewoman. The Tates also know about the immigrant smuggling, so you would think these people would keep their crimes at a distance. I suppose they think getting people involved in these schemes keeps them from calling police but they are on thin ice with Mark's girlfriend already; she's talked to Louise and so has Terry.

I find Ray an interesting character, as despite what we know about him I sometimes find him very likeable. I do hope Mark is not going to get into trouble for something he knew nothing about, and quit the job as soon as he did know . I would have thought Len would have the sense to bring Angie, and she could probably get some sort of police sting set up. I think Sams date was a bit of fluff thrown in.

I really enjoyed Emmerdale this week. The characters are really good and I am starting to learn who is who. I have a few questions that maybe someone can help me with. What is Zoe's story? They said she had been off work because of stress. I am just wondering what happened. also Does Scott own the garage or does he just work there? Thanks. I thought Sam's date was good and it was nice to see her being nice to him. I enjoyed the way she treated Cain! I thought it was a bit over the top though for her to give Sam her phone number.

How far behind are you with Emmerdale Deborah? Zoe may have been recovering from her illness?

They're in about July 2002 now I think. Only 4 days a week so will get further and further behind unless we reduce ours.
Deborah, Scott owns the garage then if I remember rightly. Zoe has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and is recovering. She went completely mad. Seduced Scott in the landrover (despite being a lesbian) and burnt down the church.
Christina, I'd have loved to have seen old movies on the big screen. But we never even got The Whales of August with Bette Davis down here which made me furious.
