Time called on Footballers' Wives
ITV drama Footballers' Wives is coming to an end after five series, it has been confirmed. The programme's demise was mutually agreed by makers Shed Productions and ITV, after the show suffered declining ratings during its latest run.
We're proud that we created one of the most talked about TV shows of recent times, said Shed director Brian Park.
The show has become a hit in the US on BBC America, and a deal to air the show in South America has been reached.
It was one of the best series of its time and caught the mood of the early 21st century, said Nick Elliott, head of ITV drama.

Oh dear - first Dream Team, now Footballers Wives. Whats happened to all our soccer dramas!
I have to say I think its time FW ended, all the best characters have either left or are leaving (Tanya, Bruno, Jackie etc). Hope they do a final episode to tie up loose ends though

Jez: I just started watching this show - up to episode 3 - I think it's the first year. There's a model, Chardonnay who gets burned and an older guy in a coma in hospital. Sounds like Tanya had something to do with his death but I missed that bit; can you tell me what happened? One of the players used to be in Bad Girls. It looks like a nice trashy soap. They run it Sat. aft. here.
