Last Updated: Thursday, 27 April 2006, 13:08 GMT 14:08 UK Rose d'Or honour for EastEnders BBC One soap EastEnders has been inducted into the prestigious Rose d'Or Hall of Fame in Lucerne, Switzerland. Cast members including Adam Woodyatt and Perry Fenwick, who play Ian Beale and Billy Mitchell, travelled to the Swiss Alps to accept the honour.
"This high profile Rose D'Or honour recognises the continuing success of EastEnders after 21 years," said the head of Rose D'Or, Georges Luks.
The international television festival runs until Sunday.
Comedy
Former EastEnders actor Shane Richie won a Rose d'Or award in 2004 for best performance in a soap.
Catherine Tate, Stephen Fry and Jimmy Carr are among the British performers up for this year's Rose d'Or awards. The winners will be announced on Saturday.
Tate is nominated for best female comedy performance, while Fry and Carr are both up for best game show host.
Ashley Jensen is in the running for best female sitcom performance - but there is no performance nomination for her Extras co-star Ricky Gervais.
As previously announced, Gervais will receive an honorary Rose d'Or Award at the festival.
Last year's event saw Peter Kay, Green Wing's Pippa Haywood and Little Britain stars David Walliams and Matt Lucas pick up performance awards.
