Just read a wee story concerning Derren Brown - y'know...the chappie who got some of us naïve beings regretting not buying lottery tickets... derrenbrown.co.uk/blog/2009/09/ev¡...with him really dragging his show out with lots of distractions and waffle last year, with jumping balls and chopping and adding pre-recorded wee bits. And so to his latest circus...with a man in a straightjacket on a railway line; eleven complaints - thus becoming a headline story. Find that amusing, as the UK (England in particular) has become a gawpers country where everything seems to be admired, be it some poor sod attempting to jump off Blackpool Tower, watching a group of lads down below on the beach writing 'JUMP' in the sand where he can see it, or we walk past (but continuously stare at) someone being beaten up by cowards - or directing our hooded-eyed glance at some bastard holding his rottweiler while it growls and barks at wee Asian weans coming out of a store nearby...and don't get me going on morons holding up traffic on the M25 and other motorways around London whilst staring at a crash on the other side. It got me wondering about our behaviour in general; do we pick and choose what we're 'fearful' of today...or was Derren Brown's programme complained about for not being 'sexy' enough?
