Since there's not enough space by 2 letters in the subject line I decided to call it that, especially since they're all basically the same thing so might as well lump them together. LOL! My favourite is Here's Lucy. I know it rehashed a lot of what had been done in ILL, but it was the first I'd seen 21 years ago and I just loved it. It's still my favourite now but hasn't been aired here since 1992. Patsy

I was never that keen on the I Love Lucy shows, different sense of humour I suppose.
I was never keen on The Phil Silvers show either.

I don't really like I Love Lucy. It's overhyped in my opinion. I'll buy the US DVDs though because I'm a Lucy fan but would much rather have The Lucy Show (well the ones with Vivian Vance in because the ones after in California were pants) and Here's Lucy.
I was never that keen on The Phil Silvers Show either. Couldn't get into that. Mind you,a lot of things I liked when Channel 4 screened them like Bewitched, The Munsters etc I can't stand now.

Patsy: interesting you should mention how the ILL show really lost it after the trip to California because I always felt that way as well. Vivian and Lucy together were the best part of the show. How many ways can Lucy try to get in to show business and have a husband who tries to stop her.

Well actually I was referring to The Lucy Show which had Viv for the first 3 seasons before she left and they relocated the Lucy character to California. Though the one she guested in was funny. But I do agree about ILL and the California angle too. I got the season 5 DVDs last month with the return from California and trip to Europe. It was really struggling by then and I don't think moving to Connecticut either was much better. Out of all the Lucy-Desi Comedy Hours, I only laughed at a couple, my favourite being the first one showing how Lucy and Ricky met. By the last one, "Lucy and the Moustache" it had really become stale. I think also having all those stars helped with the decline. It certainly did with The Lucy Show when Viv went and especially Here's Lucy after Desi jr left and Lucie was included occasionally. I mean, although "Lucy Carter Meets Lucille Ball" is my favourite, it shows how desperate that had become as it neared the end of the final season by having her appear as herself to plug Mame! Part of the problem I have with US shows is they run far too long. If they end on a high instead of the average 7 years and 200+ eps they might not get a dull and repetitive, not to mention painful to watch as they reuse ideas. It is surprising though in the States the other Lucy series get ignored whle ILL is constantly repeated. I was delighted when they brought out a Here's Lucy DVD though a lot of the selection are NOT the best, and that's not just my opinion. The extras were great though but it doesn't look like there'll be any more. But at least it gave Lucy fans a chance who'd never seen any to watch them at long last.
